Our Story

Picture
Lola Bosa and Ash Alguneh are Grade 12 students. While in lockdown, they were compelled to reach out and aid another community. They decided to purchase coffee in bulk from a family in Yemen — a country whose crisis they’d researched beforehand — and dedicate the proceeds from selling the coffee to the Yemen Relief and Reconstruction Foundation.

Initially, the task of importing coffee from Yemen was daunting since a civil war and related blockades are preventing food and other essentials from reaching the citizens. However, once they shared the seed of this idea with others, the manner of how to make it happen became clear. Propelled by the enthusiasm of people in the Collingwood community, the project gathered momentum. After weekly meetings with local coffee shops, Lola and Ash contacted Ali Hiba Muslot & his sons, imported coffee from them, and arranged for batches to be roasted and sold here in Vancouver.
